John Denver was a superstar artist who was a hit by his popular-folk hits, many of which were inspired by Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a Mexican-born artist and songwriter who fell in love with Colorado. A few beat a path to Colorado after hearing Denver's popular anthems to his adopted state. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated the following: John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first to be inducted into the hall. For many, Denver is the Colorado image. If you travel with me, you are likely to meet people from opposite sides of the planet. For example people from New Zealand. And when someone asks you if you're originally from Colorado the response is "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a solo artist after having worked within small Folk Music groups. The song was written by Bill Danoff. Danoff originally wrote it with Johnny Cash's music with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver was aware from the very first time he heard the early versions that the song would be a big hit. After performing the song at Washington D.C. to a large audience, Denver released the song a couple of days afterward.
